This week, IMPA reported the results of the 2020 Pilot Ladder Safety campaign, held in October of this year. A record number of 6394 observations have been received during this years campaign, mainly as a result of a significant increase of response from pilots in South America.
During this campaign, 12% (774) of the reported pilot ladders was found to be non compliant, compared to 18% in 2016. Of these non compliant ladders, 96 were reported to authorities.
With regards to the securing on deck, 183 pilot ladders were considered “not properly secured”. That accounts to 3% of all observed ladders in this campaign.
