It is with great sadness that we learned about the passing of Captain Troy Evans, maritime pilot from Tauranga, New Zealand. Troy has been a pioneer in sharing the awareness on pilot ladder safety. His practical research in determining the strength of various intermediate securing methods of ladders was groundbreaking and an eye opener for many. Until only a few weeks ago, Troy remained actively involved with this website, the subject of pilot ladder safety and the projects that are going on. The pilot community and the maritime industry owe him a huge debt of gratitude for his contributions to maritime safety. Troy, thank you for your valuable advice, may the winds and waves be with you wherever you go. Rest In Peace .
